Giving Back Is Part of Who We Are

Since 2013, AOLCC campuses have taken part in dozens of community initiatives — from fundraisers and food drives to mental wellness expos and career fairs. What started as individual acts of goodwill has grown into something bigger: a shared belief that we have a responsibility to the communities that support our students and campuses. We don’t do this for recognition. We do it because it’s who we are.

Frontenac HSJCC Community Services Fair

The Frontenac HSJCC Community Services Fair brought together local organizations to connect people with essential community, health, and social services. It helped raise awareness of available resources and made it easier for individuals to find the support they need.

KMFRC Community Connections Breakfast

The KMFRC Community Connections Breakfast brought together local organizations and community members to build connections and share resources. It created an opportunity to strengthen community partnerships and learn more about services available to families and individuals.

2025

Summer Open House

The Summer Open House welcomed community members through our doors to meet the team and learn about our services.

It created a relaxed, friendly space for neighbours to connect and feel at home.

Frontenac HSJCC Community Services Fair

The Frontenac HSJCC Community Services Fair brought together local organizations to connect people with essential community, health, and social services.
It helped raise awareness of available resources and made it easier for individuals to find the support they need.

Career Fair at Gananoque Secondary School

The Career Fair at Gananoque Secondary School gave students the chance to meet local employers and explore future career paths.
It helped young people ask questions, gain confidence and see the opportunities available close to home.

2024

Conversation Circles & Women and the Art of Language

Conversation Circles were open to the whole community and helped participants build their ESL skills in a supportive setting. The Women and the Art of Language event also brought together community members who lead women-run businesses.

2023

KMFRC – Community Connect-a-Thon

The Community Connect-a-Thon was an event created especially for military families.
It linked families with local supports, services and one another.

2020

Sound Meditation Event

This sound meditation event was held to raise money for those affected by the Australian wildfires.
It brought the community together in a calm, caring way to support people in need, even from far away.

2019

Let's Warm Up the Conversation" Mental Wellness Expo & Secret Santa Fundraiser

The Mental Wellness Expo was held on site with 14 local businesses sharing their services and how they help enhance mental wellness. The year also included a Secret Santa Fundraiser that supported 5 families.
Both events helped open up conversations about wellbeing and spread the spirit of giving.

2018

Community Fundraisers for Animals, Youth, Families and Mental Health

The year included the Dogs and Cats of the Dominican Republic Fundraiser, a BBQ Fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston, and a Secret Santa Fundraiser that gave a local family groceries, gas cards and presents. We also held a fundraising event for AMHS-KFLA (Addictions and Mental Health Services, Kingston).
Each event gave the community a way to give back to causes close to their hearts.

2017

Kingston 4 Paws & Canadian Blood Services Events

The Kingston 4 Paws Service Dog Fundraising Event supported the training of service dogs. We also hosted a Canadian Blood Services Blood Typing Event and Blood Drive.
These events showed how a community can help both people and animals.

2013–2016

Where It All Began

Our early years included building our own float for the 2013 Santa Claus Parade, the 2015 Santa Shuffle, and a 2016 Book Exchange for International Literacy Day.
These first events set the tone for the community spirit we carry forward today.

Good Food Box

AOLCC acts as a registered pickup centre and supports community members with collection and distribution.

Food Pantry

A confidential monthly program providing students with food and hygiene items, with support from a local food bank when needed.

Conversation Circles

Weekly community sessions helping newcomers and community members practise and strengthen English-speaking skills.

Community Space

AOLCC provides meeting-room access to a local rehabilitation organization, creating both community support and placement opportunities for PSW students.
