Our Policies and Procedures
Admissions Policy
Though our students will have access to one-on-one support for the duration of their program, they must also be able to work within our individualized learning system independently. To ensure each student’s success, the college requires specific eligibility criteria for all applicants.
Active Participation Policy

Completion and Graduation Policy

Domestic Students
Domestic students are:
- Canadian Citizens
- Permanent Residents
- Indigenous Persons
- Protected Persons – Eligibility to study programs longer than 6 months without a study permit include one of the following documents:
- A Notice of Decision letter from the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB)
- A valid Verification of Status (VOS) document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
- Protected Person Status Document (PPSD) or a formal decision letter issued by the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
For admission to any of our Diploma or Registered Certificate programs, Domestic Applicants:
- Will be required to attend the initial interview and receive a positive recommendation from the college director/student administrator/admissions representative.
- Have a fair understanding of the English language.
- Should either be a Grade 12 graduate (or equivalent) or have Mature Student status. This will subject to the discretion of the College Director.
- Mature Students and those who cannot supply proof of Grade 12 graduation (Ontario-issued diploma or transcript) will be required to complete an Entrance Examination to properly assess their standing.
- Applicants for any of the Technical Diplomas or Advanced Certificates, as well as the Medical
International Students
For International Students, applicants will generally require the following:

Grade 12 Equivalency – Enrollment into an Academy of Learning Career College Diploma program requires successful high school completion. You may be asked to provide a copy of your high school diploma and transcript, translated into English and assessed by a recognized assessment to ensure equivalency to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).You can have your existing credentials (degrees, diplomas, courses) evaluated at the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials or World Education Services (WES).**Any student unable to provide the required document(s) as listed above will be required to successfully complete our Mature Student Entrance exam.

Demonstrated Language Proficiency – Acceptable test results from a certified language test that measures your skill in reading, writing, understanding and speaking in English.Generally accepted tests include:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- The Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment

Credits for Prior Learning / Application for Advanced Standing
Credits from other academic institutions are not transferable.
Credit for prior education or training may be granted if a student successfully passes a challenge exam, demonstrating acceptable proficiency in specific skill areas.
Transfer Policy
If a student is enrolled in a program at another AOLCC campus, they will be required to complete their program the College identified in their enrolment contract.
If a student wishes to transfer to another Academy of Learning Career College, they must submit a written request to their current College in advance.
Transfers will only be considered if the student is in good standing and are at the sole discretion of the receiving College Director. Approval may also be required from the student’s funding agency and is subject to space availability.
Enrolment contracts are not transferable from one student to another.
Additional Admissions Requirements
- Applicants must read and certify that they have received and reviewed the College’s policies and procedures, including updates, inserts, and the Enrolment Application and Contract.
- Some programs may require additional entrance requirements or prerequisite courses.
Fees and Payment Policy - Including Books and Materials
Courses are presented with all the necessary materials included. Our Integrated Learning System™ programs are presented using course workbooks, audio instruction, and original software.
All courses are presented as complete packages with the necessary materials included. There are no additional costs. All materials presented to students are protected by relevant Copyright Laws.
Tuition, Book and Compulsory fees are included in the student contract, along with the payment schedule.
Academic credit is not given until all financial obligations have been met. Fees are payable to Academy of Learning Career College and may be made by:
- E-transfer
- Credit Card
- Cheque
- Cash
Tax Receipts
Tuition fees qualify for Income Tax credits. In order to claim this tax credit, an official receipt is issued by the colleges yearly.
Hours of Operation
Academy of Learning Career College operates year-round and observes all government statutory holidays. Our campuses will also have scheduled closures including March Break, Summer Holidays and the Christmas and New Year Break. Students should check with their respective campus regarding hours of operation.
Students will always have access to their courseware even if the college is closed as our Learning Hub is available at all times.
Attendance Policy
Students are required to meet weekly attendance obligations as outlined in their contract and as dictated by their funding sources. Failure to attend according to contracted hours of instruction per week may result in withdrawal from the program.
Attendance records are maintained by the College and may be reviewed by sponsoring agencies. It is our students’ responsibility to accurate log their study hours using our attendance portal and to ensure that the study time recorded is in accordance with course progress. Access to the attendance portal and learning platform are available 24/7.
In most cases, students may design their own study schedule as long as they meet their weekly study time requirements. For students who prefer to study at the campus, schedules may be subject to workstation availability and are at the discretion of the College.
Academic Progress Policy
All students are issued a program outline which lists the courses included in their program. Upon issuance of courses, students will be provided with a target date for course completion. These dates must be adhered to as closely as possible, so students can complete their program by the contracted end date.
Should students fall behind, they are expected to put in extra time to maintain satisfactory progress. Students receiving funding will have no leeway in this – if satisfactory progress and course load is not being maintained, it could result in withdrawal.
Courses not completed by the program end date will not qualify for refunds or transfers. If completion by the program end date is not feasible, the end date may be extended, but only with the permission of sponsoring agencies and the College Director.
To receive a credential, students must achieve an overall average of 75%.
Regular feedback from college staff ensures students can monitor their progress, and if applicable, may implement initiatives to ensure academic success.
Passing Marks
In general, each course will require successful completion its corresponding final exam to advance to the next course. Successful completion is defined as meeting the minimum percentage pass mark as prescribed by AOLCC.
To graduate, students must pass all courses in their program of study with an overall average of 75%. Students achieving an average of 90% and higher will receive Honours status. The marking schemes and procedures are governed by strict guidelines set by LaunchLife International Inc.
Accessible Learning and Accommodation
We believe that everyone should have the right and opportunity to learn and enhance their skills no matter their learning style or non-traditional needs.
Our innovative method of individualized instruction coupled with flexible scheduling gives students with differing abilities to access the benefits of our unique learning method. Written transcripts of courses may be available when audio material is insufficient for student needs. In addition, our Learning Coaches work closely with their students to identify the best pathway to learning.
Learning Coaches
Our Learning Coaches are dedicated academic mentors who support students through their programs. They provide one-on-one assistance, explain complex concepts, and help students set up manageable schedules without the pressure of a traditional, competitive classroom.
The Learning Coach role is tailored to ensure that adult learners are supported to succeed. Their key responsibilities include:
- One-on-One Assistance: Providing direct academic support, clarifying lesson content, and helping students grasp hands-on applications in their specific subjects.
- Progress Monitoring: Helping learners stay on track with deadlines and adjusting study schedules for those managing work and family commitments.
- Customized Instruction: Adapting teaching and communication styles to match the individual learner’s pace and preferred learning modality.
- Motivation and Mentorship: Building confidence and encouraging students through educational milestones and career development.
Dress Code
Academy of Learning Career College does not enforce a strict dress code; however, for our students who study on campus, we request that they present themselves in business casual attire or as they would for a job interview.
As a courtesy to others who may have extreme allergies, students are asked not to use strongly scented products prior to coming to the college.
Issuance of Diploma or Certificate(s)
Once the student has successfully met all requirements of their diploma or registered certificate program, they will receive their credential as issued by Launch Life International Inc.
**Please note that students will need to ensure that their financial obligations have been met so that their credential can be released to them. This includes full payment as per the fees outlined in their contract.
Refresher Privileges
Support does not end upon graduation. We encourage our graduates to return to the college following completion of their program to refresh and review their course material. This keeps skills up to date and helps the student prepare for job interviews and skill testing.

Sexual Violence Policy
Sexual Violence Policy
(a) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West has adopted this Sexual Violence Policy, which defines sexual violence and outlines its training, reporting, investigative and disciplinary responses to complaints of sexual violence made by its students that have occurred on its campus, or at one of its events and involve its students.
(b) The person accused of engaging in sexual violence will be referred to as the “Respondent” and the person making the allegation as the “Complainant”.
Definition of Sexual Violence
Training, Reporting and Responding to Sexual Violence
(a) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West shall provide students a copy of the Sexual Violence Policy and the acknowledgement of same will be made on the enrolment contract. A copy of the Sexual Violence Policy will be provided to all career college Instructors, Learning Coaches and any other staff and training them about the policy and its processes of reporting, investigating and responding to complaints of sexual violence involving its students will occur. *Any company participating in offering student internships on their premises must provide an undertaking in writing that it is in compliance with all applicable legislation, including the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and will provide students access to those policies should they encounter issues relating to sexual violence in the workplace.
(b) The complete Sexual Violence Policy shall be published and posted in the campus lunchroom. Additional copies can be provided upon request.
(c) If students, in good faith, report an incident of, or make a complaint about, sexual violence, they will not be subject to discipline or sanctions for violations of the career college’s policies relating to drug or alcohol use at the time the alleged sexual violence occurred.
(d) Students who disclose their experience of sexual violence through reporting an incident of, making a complaint about, or accessing supports and services for sexual violence, will not be asked irrelevant questions during the investigation process by the career college’s staff or investigators, including irrelevant questions relating to the student’s sexual expression or past sexual history.
(e) Any person subject to, or witnessing incidents of, or complaints of, sexual violence will report to the Campus Director, Roshni Patel, roshni.p@aolccollege.ca, +1 (905) 306-0666 upon becoming aware of them.
(f) Subject to Section 4 below, to the extent it is possible, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West, will attempt to keep all personal information of persons involved in the investigation confidential except in those circumstances where it believes an individual is at imminent risk of self-harm, or of harming another, or there are reasonable grounds to believe that others on its campus or the broader community are at risk. This will be done by:
(i) Ensuring that all complaints/reports and information gathered as a result of the complaint/reports will be only available to those who need to know for purposes of investigation, implementing safety measures and other circumstances that arise from any given case; and
(ii) Ensuring that the documentation is kept in a separate file from that of the Complainant/student or the Respondent.
(g) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West recognizes the right of the Complainant not to report an incident of or make a complaint about sexual violence or not request an investigation and not to participate in any investigation that may occur.
(h) Notwithstanding, in certain circumstances, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West, may be required by law or its internal policies to initiate an internal investigation and/or inform police without the complainant’s consent if it believes the safety of members of its campus or the broader community is at risk.
(i)In all cases, above, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West will appropriately accommodate the needs of its students affected by sexual violence. Students seeking accommodation should contact the Campus Director, Roshni Patel.
In this regard, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West, will assist students who have experienced sexual violence in obtaining counselling and medical care, and provide them with information about sexual violence supports and services available in the community as set out in Appendix 1 attached hereto. Students are not required to file a formal complaint in order to access supports and services.
Investigating Reports of Sexual Violence
(a) Under this Sexual Violence Policy, any student of Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West may file a report of an incident or a complaint to the Campus Director, Roshni Patel, in writing.
(b) Upon receipt of a report of an incident or a complaint of alleged sexual violence being made, the Campus Director, Roshni Patel, will respond promptly and: (i) Determine whether an investigation should proceed and if the Complainant wishes to participate in an investigation; (ii) Determine who should conduct the investigation having regard to the seriousness of the allegation and the parties involved; (iii) Determine whether the incident should be referred immediately to the police; (iv) In such cases or where civil proceedings are commenced in respect of allegations of sexual violence, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West, may conduct its own independent investigation and make its own determination in accordance with its own policies and procedures; and
(i) Determine whether an investigation should proceed and if the Complainant wishes to participate in an investigation;
(ii) Determine who should conduct the investigation having regard to the seriousness of the allegation and the parties involved;
(iv) In such cases or where civil proceedings are commenced in respect of allegations of sexual violence, Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West, may conduct its own independent investigation and make its own determination in accordance with its own policies and procedures; and
(v) Determine what interim measures ought to be put in place pending the investigation process such as removal of the Respondent or seeking alternate methods of providing necessary course studies.
(c) Once an investigation is initiated, the following will occur:
(i) The Complainant and the Respondent will be advised that they may ask another person to be present throughout the investigation;
(ii) Interviewing the Complainant to ensure a complete understanding of the allegation and gathering additional information that may not have been included in the written complaint such as the date and time of the incident, the persons involved, the names of any person who witnessed the incident and a complete description of what occurred;
(iii) Informing and interviewing the Respondent of the complaint, providing details of the allegations and giving the Respondent an opportunity to respond to those allegations and to provide any witnesses the Respondent feels are essential to the investigation;
(iv) Interviewing any person involved or who has, or may have, knowledge of the incident and any identified witnesses;
(v) Providing reasonable updates to the Complainant and the Respondent about the status of the investigation; and
(vi) Following the investigation, the Campus Director, Roshni Patel, will:
– Review all of the evidence collected during the investigation;
– Determine whether sexual violence occurred; and if so Determine what disciplinary action, if any, should be taken as set out in the section below.
Disciplinary Measures
(a) If it is determined by Academy of Learning Career College that the Respondent did engage in sexual violence, immediate disciplinary or corrective action will be taken. This may include:
- Disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment of instructors or staff; or
- Expulsion of a student; and /or
- The placement of certain restrictions on the Respondent’s ability to access certain premises or facilities; and/or
- Any other actions that may be appropriate in the circumstances.
Appeal
(a) Should the Complainant or the Respondent not agree with the decision resulting from the investigation, he or she may appeal the decision to the Ministry of Colleges and Universities by submitting the inquiry at the Program Approval & Registration Information System (PARIS). Students shall register in PARIS at this link: https://www.pcc.tcu.gov.on.ca/PARISExtWeb/public/register.xhtml with a “Student” type profile. Once they login, students shall click on Inquiry.
Making False Statements
(a) It is a violation of this Sexual Violence Policy for anyone to knowingly make a false complaint of sexual violence or to provide false information about a complaint.
(b) Individuals who violate the Sexual Violence Policy are subject to disciplinary and/or corrective action, up to and including termination of employment of instructors or staff or expulsion of a student.
Reprisal
(a) It is a violation of this Sexual Violence Policy to retaliate or threaten to retaliate against a complainant who has brought forward a complaint of sexual violence, provided information related to a complaint, or otherwise been involved in the complaint investigation process.
(b) Individuals who violate the Sexual Violence Policy are subject to disciplinary and/or corrective action, up to and including termination of employment of instructors or staff or expulsion of a student.
Review
(a) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West shall ensure that student input is considered in the development of its Sexual Violence Policy and every time it is reviewed or amended.
(b) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West shall review its Sexual Violence Policy 3 years after it is first implemented and amend it where appropriate. The date of this revision is July 17, 2024.
Collection of Student Data
(a) Academy of Learning Career College, Mississauga West shall collect and be prepared to provide upon request by the Superintendent of Career Colleges such data and information as required according to Subsections 32. 1 (8), (9), (10) and (11) of Schedule 5 of the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 as amended.
